Crop a square photo for Instagram
A square crop is 1:1, so the width and the height are the same number of pixels. This page opens on 1080 x 1080.
SnapCut crops and sizes the photo only. It does not check your face, expression or background.
Your photo never leaves this device. To check, open your browser's developer tools, choose Network, and crop a photo: no request carries it.
A square is the easiest shape to plan: a face in the middle of the frame stays in the middle of the crop. SnapCut sets the frame to 1:1 and exports 1080 x 1080 pixels.
Because the frame is a square, a landscape photo loses its left and right sides and a portrait photo loses its top and bottom. Drag the photo to choose which part stays, or zoom in to frame a single subject. The enlargement warning appears when the part you chose has fewer pixels than the output, which is common with small or heavily zoomed photos.
The other Instagram sizes are one click away in the picker: Portrait at 4:5, Landscape, Grid at 3:4, and Story and Reel at 9:16. For squares of other sizes, such as a profile picture, open the Profile pictures view or type a custom size.
Nothing is uploaded. The crop happens in your browser, and the file you download carries no location data or camera details from the original.
